I am a rap artist. I go by the name of Solar Wind. My primary goal is to promote real hip hop music. By real hip hop, I mean the type of hip hop that was about more than just making money--certainly, the glamor has always been a big part of the hip hop industry, but it was never the primary goal. There used to be respect for the art itself. Hip hop is now seen as a way to cash in. There are a great amount of followers and the leaders are taken the genre in the wrong direction. Real hip hop music stimulates the mind, the body, and the soul. I strive every day to perfect my craft. Lyrically, I have been shaped by artists such as Rakim, NaS, the GZA, Guru, Big Daddy Kane, Ghostface Killah, Eminem, the METHOD Man, Big L, Q-Tip and many more. Producers such as Pete Rock, DJ Premier, J Dilla, 9th Wonder, and Dr. Dre also inspire me regularly to put my words down on paper. "Solar Wind is a form of high-speed microscopic energy that is emitted from the sun and helps to give life unto the earth. It is responsible for phenomena such as the Northern Lights and the visible tails of comets. Solar Wind is life-giving wind and energy. We do not fully understand it, neither can we fully understand ourselves. We can only hope to pass on life-giving energy and hope to others to keep them going.
