Khao Music Group is a virtual community for the socially aware Hip Hop fan. With over 13 million records sold, Super Producer, Kevin "Khao" Cates has brought the world mega hits such as T.I.'s "Why You Wanna" and R. Kellys "Double Up." Khao has been able to revolutionize the sound of Hip Hop music by producing arithmetic sounds and rhythmic melodies that cross various genres of music. He has also been able to position himself as a major player in the music industry while maintaining full control over his production and publishing—a feat almost unheard of in his field. Khao, a native of Montgomery Alabama, attributes his business savvy and work ethic to his father, the catalyst of his career. Khao proclaims, He taught me to pursue excellence without excuses. And as a dedication to his father, Khao has entitled his forthcoming album "Patience, Silence and Consistency", a motto that was constantly instilled in him. Khao, a quiet, reserved, charismatic young man, is a testament to his fathers beliefs. And, his accomplishments speak volumes when it comes to his passion and love for music. Some of them include: 2006-2007 and 2008-2009 nominations - Producer of the Year (Dead Serious Awards)Lead Producer King Album for T.I. known as the best selling album in 15 years for Atlantic Records debuted at #1 with 522,000 copies, 2006 best selling album and 1st to go platinum that year2006 BET Hip Hop Awards CD of the Year2006 Billboard Awards Rap Album of the Year2006 Ozone Awards Best Rap Album2006 Blast Award - #1 Foreign Hip Hop Album2006 Nomination Favorite Rap Album American Music Awards2006 Nomination Best Rap Album The Grammys2007 ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards - Best Rap Song and R&B/Hip Hop Song for T.I.'s "Why You Wanna"Certified Gold Single Sales by RIAACharted on the Australian, Ireland, Tokyo, UK, Switzerland, South African (#1) and U.S. Billboard charts (#4)2006 Blast Awards - #16 Foreign Hip Hop Single/Song2006 Dirty Awards Best VideoKhao has produced several major recording artists over the years. Most recently, Khao as focused his efforts towards two socially conscious efforts: the Million March 2 Vote and the Bridge Da Gap Movement. On November 2, 2008, Khao and Dr. Charles Steele, President of the historic SCLC, organized and led the Million March 2 Vote march and rally from Morris Brown College to the Georgia State Capitol. The goal of the march was to celebrate those who voted early and encourage others to vote in the November 4th presidential election. This event brought together well known Hip Hop celebrities and Civil Rights leaders such as Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III and received worldwide media attention from CNN, ABC, NBC, and FOX News. Khao and Dr. Steele have also joined forces to form the Bridge Da Gap Movement. Their vision is to bring together our youth with the older generation for the ultimate life learning experience. Khao cites, It appears that we, as the younger generation, have lost sight of the struggles and obstacles that preceded us. There is lack of participation from us and I asked myself, Who will be our leaders of tomorrow if we don't make a stand? Our generation has taken a lot for granted and there is so much to learn from one another." The march was the first step in bridging the gap between these generations. Khao is now working on the second phase of the project--the Bridging Da Gap album/workbook. The purpose of this project is to provide guidance and solutions for the youth in their daily struggles. It will include a compilation of major and independent recording artists with a portion of the proceeds going to Youth Programs as well as the development of educational programs that promote the sharing of ideas and growth between the generations. The first single launching this collaborative movement is self titled "Bridging Da Gap" with Khao and Dr. Steele.
