Dec 6, 2008 - How in the world do you hear that stuff? :/It took me 21 tries to hear the 'wurp'.

Dec 7, 2008 - It's pretty obvious if you play it from the CD through a reasonable sound system. It's at such a crucial point too. You anticipate the tutti and then whoops!

Dec 7, 2008 - Haha, I suppose! I plan to get the Reiner rendition. The only time he failed me was his Nevsky. But I like him...However, sadly, Scheherazade is not one of my favorites. Intense and beautiful though.

Dec 10, 2008 - The Thomas Beecham recording is very well regarded and squeeky clean on EMI "Great Recordings".

Dec 29, 2008 - The Reiner is for me the absolute greatest. Morton Gould also made a killer version, somewhat more poetic; Ansermet's stereo remake is probably the finest recording job, and Beecham's is a very musical and well played version too. Kondrashin and the Concertgebouw are terrific. There aren't that many really fine versions; I would place Karajan's after all the ones I named, and of course it is brilliantly played but misses the magic of storytelling.

Dec 30, 2008 - I am planning to buy the Reiner one. I will check the others, and the Gould/Ansermet sounds great. For some reason, I never trusted Beecham, like I barely trusted Karajan after I learned a bit more about music. Anyway, thanks for your help!

Nov 22, 2008 - @7:25 - 7:26 the tape's bent. Consequently, every issue of this recording has the *wurp*.
